जरितारिर् उवाच
आत्मासि वायोः पवनः शरीरम् उत वीरुधाम् ॥
योनिर् आपश् च ते शुक्र योनिस् त्वम् असि चाम्भसः ॥
ऊर्ध्वं चाधश् च गच्छन्ति विसर्पन्ति च पार्श्वतः ॥
अर्चिषस् ते महावीर्य रश्मयः सवितुर् यथा ॥

ātmāsi vāyoḥ pavanaḥ śarīram uta vīrudhām ||
yonir āpaś ca te śukra yonis tvam asi cāmbhasaḥ ||

arciṣas te mahāvīrya raśmayaḥ savitur yathā ||

Translation
Jaritari said: "You are the soul of wind, you are its breath; and the body of plants you are; the waters are your womb, O Shukra, and you are the womb of the waters; upward and downward go, and spread on every side, your tongues, O mighty one, like the rays of the sun."

Here Agni is perceived as immanent in all the elements. It is significant that he is "the soul of wind, the body of plants, the womb of waters": one fiery power abides in air, in plant, and in water. Thus is revealed the reflection of the single source pervading all creation; behind the many faces of the elements stands the one Lord. Thus scripture reveals the omnipresence of Agni -- and praise rises to the One in all.
