ऋषयश् च महात्मानः स्वयंवरदिदृक्षया ॥
दुर्योधनपुरोगाश् च सकर्णाः कुरवो नृप ॥
ब्राह्मणाश् च महाभागा देशेभ्यः समुपागमन् ॥
ते ऽभ्यर्चिता राजगणा द्रुपदेन महात्मना ॥

अनुवाद
"And the great-souled seers came, wishing to see the svayamvara; and the Kurus led by Duryodhana, with Karna, O king; and greatly fortunate brahmins came from various lands; those multitudes of kings were honored by the great-souled Drupada."

Here both the righteous and the Pandavas' rivals converge. It is telling that among the guests are Duryodhana and Karna, who believe the Pandavas dead: fate brings together on the same field the hidden brothers and their foes. Here providence gathers all the threads as one: at the svayamvara both the destined bridegroom and the enemies will meet. Thus the scripture shows the fullness of the gathering; and among the splendid kings, unknowingly, are present those to whom the prize is in fact destined.
