एतत् कर्ता कर्म सुदुष्करं यः; कुलेन रूपेण बलेन युक्तः ॥
तस्याद्य भार्या भगिनी ममेयं; कृष्णा भवित्री न मृषा ब्रवीमि ॥

Here the prize is announced -- and the conditions of the suitor's worth. Significant is the demand for "lineage, beauty, and strength" alongside skill: the maiden is given not to a mere marksman, but to a man complete in every way. The one worthy of the highest is not he who excels in one thing alone, but he who is harmoniously accomplished. Significant, too, is the assurance "I do not speak falsely": a king's word stands firm. The text thus reveals the fullness of the conditions; and Dhrishtadyumna's pledge crowns the challenge that draws the suitors toward a feat impossible for most.
