देवनागरी
गजानां तु प्रभिन्नानां त्रिधा प्रस्रवतां मदम् ॥
गिरिकूटनिकाशानां समरेष्व् अनिवर्तिनाम् ॥
कॢप्तानां पटुघण्टानां वराणां हेममालिनाम् ॥
हस्त्यारोहैर् उपेतानां सहस्रं साहसप्रियः ॥

And of elephants in must, thrice flowing with rut, resembling mountain peaks, unyielding in battle, fitted out, with clear-toned bells, excellent, in golden garlands, with mahouts, a thousand Krishna gave, who loved daring deeds.

Here the Lord's gifts befit a warrior son-in-law. It is telling that Krishna gives even war elephants: the gift matches the dignity of the recipient — a hero is fittingly given the instruments of valor. Here the Lord provides for each according to his nature and need. Thus the scripture shows Krishna's discerning generosity, and his gifts increase the strength of the Pandavas.
