कच्चिद् विनयसंपन्नः कुलपुत्रो बहुश्रुतः ॥
अनसूयुर् अनुप्रष्टा सत्कृतस् ते पुरोहितः ॥
कच्चिद् अग्निषु ते युक्तो विधिज्ञो मतिमान् ऋजुः ॥
हुतं च होष्यमाणं च काले वेदयते सदा ॥
कच्चिद् अङ्गेषु निष्णातो ज्योतिषां प्रतिपादकः ॥
उत्पातेषु च सर्वेषु दैवज्ञः कुशलस् तव ॥

anasūyur anupraṣṭā satkṛtas te purohitaḥ ||
kaccid agniṣu te yukto vidhijño matimān ṛjuḥ ||
hutaṃ ca hoṣyamāṇaṃ ca kāle vedayate sadā ||
kaccid aṅgeṣu niṣṇāto jyotiṣāṃ pratipādakaḥ ||
utpāteṣu ca sarveṣu daivajñaḥ kuśalas tava ||

कच्चित् विनय-संपन्नः कुल-पुत्रः बहु-श्रुतःkaccit vinaya-saṃpannaḥ kula-putraḥ bahu-śrutaḥI hope that, full of humility, well-born, greatly learned,
अनसूयुः अनु-प्रष्टा सत्-कृतः ते पुरोहितःanasūyuḥ anu-praṣṭā sat-kṛtaḥ te purohitaḥfree of malice, [skilled at] questioning [and instructing], your purohita is honored by you;
कच्चित् अग्निषु ते युक्तः विधि-ज्ञः मतिमान् ऋजुःkaccit agniṣu te yuktaḥ vidhi-jñaḥ matimān ṛjuḥI hope that, appointed over the sacred fires, you have one who knows the rite, wise and upright,
हुतम् च होष्यमाणम् च काले वेदयते सदाhutam ca hoṣyamāṇam ca kāle vedayate sadāwho always announces in time what has been offered and what is yet to be offered;
कच्चित् अङ्गेषु निष्णातः ज्योतिषाम् प्रतिपादकःkaccit aṅgeṣu niṣṇātaḥ jyotiṣām pratipādakaḥI hope that, skilled in the [jyotisha] vedangas, an interpreter of the heavenly bodies,
उत्पातेषु च सर्वेषु दैव-ज्ञः कुशलः तवutpāteṣu ca sarveṣu daiva-jñaḥ kuśalaḥ tavaa skilled astrologer, versed in all omens, is with you?

अनुवाद

"I hope your household priest — full of humility, well-born, greatly learned, free of malice, skilled at questioning [and instructing] — is honored by you? I hope that, appointed over the sacred fires, you have a priest who knows the rite, wise and upright, who always announces in time what has been offered and what is yet to be offered? I hope you have a skilled astrologer, versed in the vedangas, an interpreter of the heavenly bodies in all omens?"
