कच्चिद् आर्यो विशुद्धात्मा क्षारितश् चौरकर्मणि ॥
अदृष्टशास्त्रकुशलैर् न लोभाद् वध्यते शुचिः ॥
पृष्टो गृहीतस् तत्कारी तज्ज्ञैर् दृष्टः सकारणः ॥
कच्चिन् न मुच्यते स्तेनो द्रव्यलोभान् नरर्षभ ॥
व्युत्पन्ने कच्चिद् आढ्यस्य दरिद्रस्य च भारत ॥
अर्थान् न मिथ्या पश्यन्ति तवामात्या हृता धनैः ॥

kaccin na mucyate steno dravyalobhān nararṣabha ||
vyutpanne kaccid āḍhyasya daridrasya ca bhārata ||
arthān na mithyā paśyanti tavāmātyā hṛtā dhanaiḥ ||

कच्चित् आर्यः विशुद्ध-आत्मा क्षारितः चौर-कर्मणिkaccit āryaḥ viśuddha-ātmā kṣāritaḥ caura-karmaṇiI hope, noble one, pure of soul, falsely accused of theft,
अदृष्ट-शास्त्र-कुशलैः न लोभात् वध्यते शुचिःadṛṣṭa-śāstra-kuśalaiḥ na lobhāt vadhyate śuciḥis not executed out of greed by men unversed in the law, this pure one;
पृष्टः गृहीतः तत्-कारी तज्-ज्ञैः दृष्टः स-कारणःpṛṣṭaḥ gṛhītaḥ tat-kārī taj-jñaiḥ dṛṣṭaḥ sa-kāraṇaḥI hope the thief -- questioned, caught in the act, seen red-handed by those who know,
कच्चित् न मुच्यते स्तेनः द्रव्य-लोभात् नर-ऋषभkaccit na mucyate stenaḥ dravya-lobhāt nara-ṛṣabhais not released out of greed for his goods, O bull among men;
व्युत्पन्ने कच्चित् आढ्यस्य दरिद्रस्य च भारतvyutpanne kaccit āḍhyasya daridrasya ca bhārataI hope, both the rich and the poor, O Bharata, in the hearing of a case,
अर्थान् न मिथ्या पश्यन्ति तव अमात्याः हृताः धनैःarthān na mithyā paśyanti tava amātyāḥ hṛtāḥ dhanaiḥare not judged falsely by your ministers, [themselves] led astray by riches?

अनुवाद

"I hope that a noble man, pure of soul, falsely accused of theft, is not executed out of greed by men unversed in the law? I hope that the real thief -- questioned, caught in the act, recognized red-handed by those who know -- is not released out of greed for his goods, O bull among men? I hope that your ministers, themselves led astray by riches, do not judge falsely either the rich or the poor when hearing a case, O Bharata?"
