कच्चिन् मुख्या महत्स्व् एव मध्यमेषु च मध्यमाः ॥
जघन्याश् च जघन्येषु भृत्याः कर्मसु योजिताः ॥
अमात्यान् उपधातीतान् पितृपैतामहाञ् शुचीन् ॥
श्रेष्ठाञ् श्रेष्ठेषु कच्चित् त्वं नियोजयसि कर्मसु ॥

कच्चित् मुख्याः महत्सु एव मध्यमेषु च मध्यमाःkaccit mukhyāḥ mahatsu eva madhyameṣu ca madhyamāḥI hope the chief men are set to great tasks, and the middling to middling ones,
जघन्याः च जघन्येषु भृत्याः कर्मसु योजिताःjaghanyāḥ ca jaghanyeṣu bhṛtyāḥ karmasu yojitāḥand the lowest to the lowest -- each servant assigned to his task according to merit;
अमात्यान् उपधा-अतीतान् पितृ-पैतामहान् शुचीन्amātyān upadhā-atītān pitṛ-paitāmahān śucīncounselors tested by bribery and found steadfast, pure, who served your father and grandfather,
श्रेष्ठान् श्रेष्ठेषु कच्चित् त्वम् नियोजयसि कर्मसुśreṣṭhān śreṣṭheṣu kaccit tvam niyojayasi karmasuthe best -- to the best tasks -- I hope you appoint them?

अनुवाद

I hope the chief men are assigned to great tasks, the middling to middling ones, and the lowest to the lowest, so that every servant is set to work according to his worth? I hope you appoint the best counselors to the highest tasks -- men tested by bribery and proven steadfast, pure, who served your father and grandfather before you?
