तांश् च शैलान् व्रजन् पार्थः प्रेक्षते सहकेशवः ॥
शुभैः प्रस्रवणैर् जुष्टान् हेमधातुविभूषितान् ॥
चन्द्ररश्मिप्रकाशाङ्गीं पृथिवीं पुरमालिनीम् ॥
समुद्रांश् चाद्भुताकारान् अपश्यद् बहुलाकरान् ॥
वियद् द्यां पृथिवीं चैव पश्यन् विष्णुपदे व्रजन् ॥
विस्मितः सह कृष्णेन क्षिप्तो बाण इवात्यगात् ॥
tāṃś ca śailān vrajan pārthaḥ prekṣate sahakeśavaḥ ||
śubhaiḥ prasravaṇair juṣṭān hemadhātuvibhūṣitān ||
candraraśmiprakāśāṅgīṃ pṛthivīṃ puramālinīm ||
samudrāṃś cādbhutākārān apaśyad bahulākarān ||
viyad dyāṃ pṛthivīṃ caiva paśyan viṣṇupade vrajan ||
vismitaḥ saha kṛṣṇena kṣipto bāṇa ivātyagāt ||
Passing by those mountains, rich in pure springs and decked with golden ore, Partha gazes upon them together with Keshava. He saw the earth, its body shining with moonbeams, wreathed with cities, and oceans of wondrous appearance, full of many mines. Beholding space, heaven, and earth, going along the path of Vishnu [across the sky], astonished, together with Krishna he sped on, like a loosed arrow.

The flight is called 'vishnupade vrajan,' 'going along the path of Vishnu' -- the sky has of old been called the footstep of Vishnu, and so Arjuna's very path lies, as it were, along the Lord's own trace. 'Kshiptah banah iva,' 'like a loosed arrow,' conveys the swiftness of the vision. It is telling that the whole of creation -- the earth crowned with cities, the oceans -- opens before the astonished gaze, guided by Krishna. The verse teaches that one guided by the Lord surveys creation as though through His own eyes: the devotee's path runs along the path of Vishnu, and the breadth of the world thus disclosed is the gift of God's companionship.
