यथागतं विप्रजग्मुर् विदित्वा पाण्डवान् वृतान् ॥

Translation

Here the common voice condemns the wickedness of rulers. It is telling that the kings reproach Bhishma and Dhritarashtra for the arson: the conscience of the world does not stay silent before the wrongdoing of the powerful. Here is seen the truth that a misdeed brings dishonor, and that tolerating wrong casts reproach upon those who tolerate it. Thus scripture reveals the judgment of public conscience; and the name of the Kurus is darkened by Purochana's deed.
