यथा एव मन्यते वीरः दाशार्हः पुरुषोत्तमःyathā eva manyate vīraḥ dāśārhaḥ puruṣottamaḥas the hero Dashārha [Krishna], best of men, thinks fit,
प्राप्तकालं महाबाहुः सा बुद्धिः निश्चिता ममprāptakālaṃ mahābāhuḥ sā buddhiḥ niścitā mamamighty-armed one, [that it is] timely — this is my firm resolve;
यथा एव हि महाभागाः कौन्तेयाः मम सांप्रतम्yathā eva hi mahābhāgāḥ kaunteyāḥ mama sāṃpratamfor as the greatly fortunate Kaunteyas [are dear] to me now,
तथा एव वासुदेवस्य पाण्डुपुत्राः न संशयःtathā eva vāsudevasya pāṇḍuputrāḥ na saṃśayaḥso too [are] the sons of Pandu [dear] to Vasudeva, without doubt;
न तत् ध्यायति कौन्तेयः धर्मपुत्रः युधिष्ठिरःna tat dhyāyati kaunteyaḥ dharmaputraḥ yudhiṣṭhiraḥKaunteya, son of Dharma, Yudhishthira, does not think as much
यत् एषां पुरुषव्याघ्रः श्रेयः ध्यायति केशवःyat eṣāṃ puruṣavyāghraḥ śreyaḥ dhyāyati keśavaḥof his own good as Keshava, tiger among men, thinks of [their] good";

Here a wondrous truth is spoken: the Lord cares for His devotees more than they care for themselves. Drupada's words are telling: "Yudhishthira does not think as much of his own good as Keshava thinks of theirs" — Krishna's care for His own exceeds their own care for themselves. Here is the heart of surrender: the Lord tends to the good of the devotee more keenly and lovingly than the devotee himself. Thus the text reveals Krishna's boundless care; and one who has surrendered himself to Him has nothing to fear.
