Here the city is surrounded by gardens, as Nandana is surrounded by the groves of the gods. The abundance of flowering and fruit-bearing trees is significant: the prosperity of a righteous kingdom shows itself also in the beauty of nature. Where dharma rules, the earth is generous and gardens bloom. Thus the scripture reveals the paradise-like charm of Indraprastha; and the jubilation of the birds echoes the happiness of its inhabitants.
