Here the exalted heroes honor their elders before all else. It is telling that the Pandavas, no sooner returned, bow at the feet of Dhritarashtra and Bhishma: neither glory nor triumph diminishes their reverence. Here is seen the truth that true greatness is ever humble before its elders. Thus the text reveals the Pandavas' good conduct; and reverence for elders crowns their homecoming.
