Suta invites the listener to hear the 'Parva-samgraha' — a summary of the books (parvas) of the Mahabharata. Before setting out the epic itself in detail, he gives its coherent table of contents — a map of the whole narration. This again shows a concern for order: great knowledge is presented in a clearly divided form, so that the listener can see the whole and confidently follow it. The very existence of so deliberate a plan testifies to the wisdom of its composer — Vyasa, an incarnation of the Lord.
