Worth noting the expression muni-durlabha, «hard for sages to reach». That is, one who reads a single verse with devotion attains what ascetics do not attain. This position is standing in Vaishnava writing and is voiced through the comparison of paths: jñāna is hard and gives little, bhakti is easy and gives much.
And its argument was cited at Varāha (4.8): even ātmārāma, «having a garden within himself», steps out of his garden — itthaṃ-bhūta-guṇo hariḥ, «such are the qualities of Hari». Add what begins here: Hanumān asks a question about liberation, and this question will occupy the next ten verses. He says: some call liberation one, others divide it into four; who is right?
The question is put precisely and worth appreciating. It is exactly the question carried through this whole collection: is there someone beyond the limit, or is there only one there. And the answer Rāma is about to give is, I think, the most weighed thing said of this in the upaniṣads: he rejects neither, but arranges them in stages — and names by what each is attained.
