Worth noting the expression mayi sarvātmako bhāvaḥ, «in me an all-encompassing feeling». Bhāva means «state, feeling, disposition»; and it is said to be sarvātmaka, «all-encompassing» — that is, taking in everything a person has. That is, what is required is not a separate pious feeling alongside the rest, but one into which all the rest enters.
This distinction, I think, is exact and checkable by anyone: a person may love while still having affairs apart from it; or may love so that all affairs are done within it. Add that the word bhāva is technical in Vaishnava usage: it stands second-to-last on its nine-runged ladder, before prema, «love»; spoken of at Jābāla-darśana (10.4). That is, the third rung of this book corresponds to the eighth rung of that ladder; and the correspondence, I think, is not accidental.
Add what is worth noting of the word sāmīpya, «closeness», itself. It denotes a distance, and a small one: to be near. Worth appreciating that the ultimate is described by a measure of distance, not by a measure of state; and this is the very thing said when reading the seventeenth verse: the question is not «what will become of me» but «how close will I be».
