Then Vasudeva gave, for the wedding guests, the finest wealth, the dowry of Subhadra, a gift from her kin: a thousand chariots with golden bodies, four-horsed, with skilled charioteers, and ten thousand cows; a thousand milch cows of the Mathura region, of blessed hue, and a thousand white mares, colored like moonbeams, Janardana gave with love; and five hundred each of black-maned and white she-mules; and a thousand fair-skinned, well-dressed serving-women in golden necklaces, skilled in service; and ten human-loads of choice gold, both wrought and unwrought, the Dasharha Janardana gave.

Here the Lord's generosity is as boundless as he himself. It is telling how abundant Krishna's gifts to his sister and her husband are — by thousands and tens of thousands: the Lord's grace toward his own knows no stinting. Here the Lord provides for his devotees in royal measure, for he is the master of all wealth. Thus the scripture shows Krishna's generosity, and Subhadra's dowry is a token of his love.
