पाञ्चाल्य् अपि च पञ्चभ्यः पतिभ्यः शुभलक्षणा ॥
लेभे पञ्च सुतान् वीराञ् शुभान् पञ्चाचलान् इव ॥
युधिष्ठिरात् प्रतिविन्ध्यं सुतसोमं वृकोदरात् ॥
अर्जुनाच् छ्रुतकर्माणं शतानीकं च नाकुलिम् ॥
सहदेवाच् छ्रुतसेनम् एतान् पञ्च महारथान् ॥
पाञ्चाली सुषुवे वीरान् आदित्यान् अदितिर् यथा ॥
pāñcāly api ca pañcabhyaḥ patibhyaḥ śubhalakṣaṇā ||
lebhe pañca sutān vīrāñ śubhān pañcācalān iva ||
yudhiṣṭhirāt prativindhyaṃ sutasomaṃ vṛkodarāt ||
arjunāc chrutakarmāṇaṃ śatānīkaṃ ca nākulim ||
sahadevāc chrutasenam etān pañca mahārathān ||
pāñcālī suṣuve vīrān ādityān aditir yathā ||
Panchali, of auspicious marks, obtained from her five husbands five heroic sons, auspicious as five mountains: from Yudhishthira, Prativindhya; Sutasoma from Bhima; from Arjuna, Shrutakarman; and Shatanika, the son of Nakula; from Sahadeva, Shrutasena. These five great chariot-warriors, these heroes, Panchali bore, as Aditi bore the Adityas.

Here a wondrous wife bears five heroes. Significant is the comparison to Aditi, mother of the Adityas: Draupadi, like a divine mother, grants the line a radiant progeny. Here a blessed union bears blessed fruit. So the scripture shows forth the birth of the Draupadeyas; and her five sons are the continuation of their five fathers.
