हिरण्मयानि शुभ्राणि बहून्य् आभरणानि च ॥
वचनात् तव राजेन्द्र द्रौपद्याः संप्रयच्छतु ॥
तथा द्रुपदपुत्राणां सर्वेषां भरतर्षभ ॥
पाण्डवानां च सर्वेषां कुन्त्या युक्तानि यानि च ॥

Here gifts serve as a token of respect and goodwill. It is significant that Drona directs that all be given gifts — daughter-in-law, kin, allies: generosity seals the alliance and reveals the sincerity of intent. Honoring the worthy with gifts is part of proper conduct. Thus scripture shows a respectful generosity; and the gifts here are no bribe, but a sign of reconciliation.
