तौ तु पीत्वा वरं पानं मदरक्तान्तलोचनौ ॥
दृष्ट्वैव तां वरारोहां व्यथितौ संबभूवतुः ॥
ताव् उत्पत्यासनं हित्वा जग्मतुर् यत्र सा स्थिता ॥
उभौ च कामसंमत्ताव् उभौ प्रार्थयतश् च ताम् ॥

Here passion, in a single instant, clouds the judgment of the inseparable. It is significant that "the very moment" they see her, both lose their peace: desire, reinforced by intoxication, seizes the mind at once. Here it is revealed how swift is the power of kama over one who does not master himself. Thus the scripture shows sudden delusion; and those who had been one in everything suddenly become rivals.
