अद्य निष्कौरवाम् एकः करिष्यामि वसुंधराम् ॥
न हि मे मर्षणीयो ऽयम् अर्जुनस्य व्यतिक्रमः ॥
तं तथा गर्जमानं तु मेघदुन्दुभिनिःस्वनम् ॥
अन्वपद्यन्त ते सर्वे भोजवृष्ण्यन्धकास् तदा ॥

adya niṣkauravām ekaḥ kariṣyāmi vasuṃdharām ||
na hi me marṣaṇīyo 'yam arjunasya vyatikramaḥ ||
taṃ tathā garjamānaṃ tu meghadundubhiniḥsvanam ||
anvapadyanta te sarve bhojavṛṣṇyandhakās tadā ||

Translation
"Today, alone, I shall rid the earth of the Kauravas; for I cannot forgive this transgression of Arjuna." Vaishampayana said: "To him, roaring thus like a thundercloud and a war-drum, all those Bhojas, Vrishnis, and Andhakas then gave their assent."

Here the elder's anger threatens to sweep the whole clan into war. It is telling that the Yadavas echo Balarama: a crowd tends to follow the anger of its leader. Here is shown the danger when the passion of the mighty draws many toward ruin. So the scripture reveals the storm gathering; and all the more needed becomes Krishna's pacifying word, which will follow.
