Next, the Ambopakhyana (the tale of Amba) and the Bhishmabhishechana. Then the Jambukhandavinirmana and the Bhumi-parva (the description of the continents). [Then] the Bhagavad-gita-parva, followed by the fall of Bhishma; the Dronabhisheka, followed by the Samshaptakavadha. The Abhimanyuvadha-parva and the Pratijna-parva (Arjuna's vow); the Jayadrathavadha, then the Ghatotkachavadha. Then the dread-inspiring Dronavadha-parva and the release of the Narayana weapon. Then the Karna-parva, followed by the Shalya-parva; the Hradapraveshana (the hiding in the lake) and the mace duel. Then the Sarasvata-parva, with the genealogy and virtues of the holy fords; and after it, the terrible Sauptika-parva (of the night-time slaughter).
