The Aishika-parva is named, and after it the most dreadful Jalapradanika-parva (the water-offering to the departed) and the Stri-parva (the lamentation of the women). Then follows the Shraddha-parva — the funeral rites of the Kurus; the Abhishechanika-parva — the consecration of the wise Dharmaraja (Yudhishthira). [Then] the Charvaka-nigraha — the subduing of the rakshasa Charvaka in the guise of a brahmin, and the Grihapravibhaga — the division of the houses. Then the Shanti-parva, where the royal duty (raja-dharma) is expounded; the Apaddharma-parva (duty in times of distress) and the Mokshadharma-parva (the duty of liberation). Then follows the Anushasanika-parva and the Bhishma-svargarohana — the wise Bhishma's ascent to heaven. Then the Ashvamedhika-parva, which destroys all sins, and the Anugita-parva — the exposition of spiritual knowledge. [Then] the Ashramavasa-parva and the Putradarshana (the vision of the departed sons); after that, the Naradagamana. Then the dreadful Mausala-parva is recounted, followed by the Mahaprasthanika (the great final journey) and the Svargarohana. Then the Harivamsha, a Purana called the supplement, and the Bhavishyat-parva — marvelous and great among the supplements.
