श्रीभगवानुवाच ।
इदं शरीरं कौन्तेय क्षेत्रमित्यभिधीयते ।
एतद्यो वेत्ति तं प्राहुः क्षेत्रज्ञ इति तद्विदः ॥

śrī-bhagavān uvāca |
idaṁ śarīraṁ kaunteya kṣetram ity abhidhīyate |
etad yo vetti taṁ prāhuḥ kṣetrajña iti tad-vidaḥ ||

क्षेत्रम् इतिkṣetram iti‘the field’.
अभिधीयतेabhidhīyateis called.
एतत् यः वेत्तिetat yaḥ vettithe one who knows (vetti) this (etat).
तम् प्राहुःtam prāhuḥof him it is said.
क्षेत्रज्ञः इतिkṣetrajñaḥ itias ‘the knower of the field’.
तत्-विदःtat-vidaḥthose who know this (distinction).
Translation
The Blessed Lord said: “O son of Kuntī, this body is called the ‘field’ (kṣetra). And the one who knows this field is called the ‘knower of the field’ (kṣetra-jña) by those who have realized the truth.”
