Devanāgarī
अन्ये त्वेवमजानन्तः श्रुत्वान्येभ्य उपासते ।
तेऽपि चातितरन्त्येव मृत्युं श्रुतिपरायणाः ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
anye tv evam ajānantaḥ śrutvānyebhya upāsate |
te 'pi cātitaranty eva mṛtyuṁ śruti-parāyaṇāḥ ||
Word-by-word

अजानन्तःajānantaḥnot knowing [these paths].
श्रुत्वा अन्येभ्यःśrutvā anyebhyaḥhaving heard (śrutvā) from others (anyebhyaḥ).
उपासतेupāsatethey worship.
ते अपि चte api caand they too.
अतितरन्तिatitarantithey cross, they overcome.
एवevasurely.
मृत्युम्mṛtyumdeath.
श्रुतिपरायणाःśruti-parāyaṇāḥthose for whom hearing (śruti) is the supreme (para-āyaṇāḥ) refuge; those who hear with faith.
Translation
“But there are others who, lacking this knowledge, begin to worship simply upon hearing about the Supreme from others. They too, undoubtedly, cross beyond the ocean of death, for they devote themselves with faith to the process of hearing.”
