Here the Lord's wondrous humility is revealed: the all-powerful one does not slay the enemy Himself, for by Brahma's word he is assigned as the portion for Bhima. It is telling that Krishna, who could strike down anyone, yields the glory to His devotee and upholds the appointed order: the Lord does not seize the share due to His servants but arranges for them to win the honor. Thus scripture shows that the Lord exalts the devotee by standing back Himself; and next, the duel of Bhima and Jarasandha.
