Seized by the foremost of teachers [Drona], Dhrishtadyumna [Satyaki] freed. Satyaki, truly valiant, ranging along the chariot-paths, having passed between Drona and Karna, and of Kripa, O Bharata — the two great-souled ones beheld him, Vishvaksena [Krishna] and Dhananjaya [Arjuna]. They honored the Vrishni, saying: "well done, well done!", [him], striking down in battle the divine weapons [of] all, unshaken. Having swooped then upon the army, Vishvaksena and Dhananjaya — then Dhananjaya spoke to Krishna: "Behold, Keshava."

Krishna and Arjuna praise Satyaki: 'well done, well done!' — he has passed unharmed between Drona, Karna, and Kripa. It is telling that the very greatest render praise to the greatest. The verse teaches that valor rejoices in valor: the truly great do not envy but exult in a comrade's feat; and this mutual recognition among heroes is a sign of nobility in which there is no room for envy — only pure joy at a friend's excellence.
