तथा तु तेषां वसतां तत्र राजन् महात्मनाम् ॥
अतिचक्राम सुमहान् कालो ऽथ भरतर्षभ ॥
ततः कदा चिद् भैक्षाय गतास् ते भरतर्षभाः ॥
संगत्या भीमसेनस् तु तत्रास्ते पृथया सह ॥

Translation
"So for those great souls dwelling there a very long time passed, O bull of the Bharata race. Then one day the bulls of the Bharata race went out for alms, and Bhimasena, as it happened, stayed home with Pritha."

Here apparent chance prepares a saving encounter. It is significant that Bhima — the strongest — "as it happened" remains beside his mother in the hour when a cry of distress will sound: what is called chance is often the hand of providence. Here it is seen that providence arranges events so that the needed one is in the needed place: the deliverer turns out to be exactly where deliverance will be needed. So scripture shows that behind the sequence of ordinary events a hidden order operates; and the trifling detail of "staying home" opens the way to a great rescue.
