उत्तरेण तु कैलासम्uttareṇa tu kailāsamto the north of Kailasa,
मैनाक म् पर्वतम् प्रतिmaināka m parvatam pratinear Mount Mainaka, —
हिरण्य-शृङ्गः भगवान्hiraṇya-śṛṅgaḥ bhagavān[stands] Hiranyashringa, the lordly,
महा-मणि-मयः गिरिःmahā-maṇi-mayaḥ giriḥa mountain of great jewels;
रम्यम् बिन्दु-सरः नामramyam bindu-saraḥ nāma[there is] a beautiful [lake] named Bindusaras,
यत्र राजा भगीरथःyatra rājā bhagīrathaḥwhere King Bhagiratha,

Here it is revealed why the material is holy: the place of its origin is consecrated by austerity and sacrifice. It is telling that Bindusaras is linked to Bhagiratha, who brought down the Ganga, and to the great sacrifices of the Lord of beings: stone and gold taken from a sacred site carry its blessing within them. Thus scripture shows that the dwelling of the righteous is built from the consecrated; and further, other holy deeds of this place follow.
