कच्चित् प्रकृतयः षट् ते न लुप्ताः भरत-ऋषभkaccit prakṛtayaḥ ṣaṭ te na luptāḥ bharata-ṛṣabhaI hope the six pillars [of your kingdom] are not lost to you, O bull among the Bharatas,
आढ्याः तथा अव्यसनिनः सु-अनुरक्ताः च सर्वशःāḍhyāḥ tathā avyasaninaḥ su-anuraktāḥ ca sarvaśaḥbut are prosperous, free from vices, and devoted in every way;
कच्चित् न तर्कैः दूतैः वा ये च अपि अपरिशङ्किताःkaccit na tarkaiḥ dūtaiḥ vā ye ca api apariśaṅkitāḥI hope that neither by conjecture, nor by messengers, nor by those beyond suspicion,

Here, to the strength of the kingdom is added the keeping secret of the council's counsel. It is significant that betraying a design is named as almost the worst misfortune: even a sound decision perishes if it becomes known before its time. Thus the scripture shows silence as part of a ruler's wisdom; and next comes peace and war in their season.
