धर्मार्थं च द्विजातिभ्यो दीयते मधुसर्पिषी ॥

Here the wisdom of heeding elders is joined with care for fertility. It is telling that gifts to the brahmanas are linked to the good of fields and herds: where the sacred is honored, there, according to tradition, the very land is blessed. Scripture thus shows the connection between piety and abundance; what follows concerns craftsmen and the recognition of labor.
