प्राप्य मथुरां पुरीं रम्यां सदा ब्रह्मादि सेवितां ।
शङ्ख चक्र गदा शार्ङ्ग रक्षितां मुसलादिभिः ॥
यत्रासौ संस्थितः कृष्णस्त्रिभिः शक्त्या समाहितः ।
रामानिरुद्ध प्रद्युम्नै रुक्मिण्या सहितो विभुः ॥
चतुःशब्दो भवेदेको ह्योंकारस्यांशकैः कृतः
tadapyete ślokā—
prāpya mathurāṁ purīṁ ramyāṁ sadā brahmādi sevitāṁ |
śaṅkha cakra gadā śārṅga rakṣitāṁ musalādibhiḥ ||
yatrāsau saṁsthitaḥ kṛṣṇastribhiḥ śaktyā samāhitaḥ |
rāmāniruddha pradyumnai rukmiṇyā sahito vibhuḥ ||
catuḥśabdo bhavedeko hyoṁkārasyāṁśakaiḥ kṛtaḥ
On this too there are verses: having reached the delightful city of Mathurā, ever served by Brahmā and the rest, guarded by conch, discus, mace, bow and club — where that Kṛṣṇa abides, joined with the three and with His own śakti: with Rāma, Aniruddha and Pradyumna and with Rukmiṇī, the all-pervading one... And the four words will become one, formed of the parts of the oṁkāra.

The verses describe the city as a fortress: it is "guarded" by the conch, the discus, the mace, the bow and the club — that is, by the weapons of Viṣṇu and Balarāma. The weapons here are no ornament but a watch: the abode is guarded by the very means by which enemies are conquered.
Then it is named who abides there: Kṛṣṇa with the three — Rāma, Pradyumna and Aniruddha — and with Rukmiṇī, called His śakti. The same quaternity was listed in mantra 44; here it is gathered around Him and furnished with the feminine principle.
The last line turns the description into the realm of sound: "the four words will become one, formed of the parts of the oṁkāra". The quaternity of names is reduced to one syllable, OṀ, of which they are the parts.
So the city, the four, and the syllable turn out to be descriptions of one and the same thing: a place, persons and a sound. The same move was made in the Pūrva-tāpanī, where the abode, the mantra and Vāsudeva were called one.
Note the word vibhu — "all-pervading" — placed at the end of the list of kin. He who is surrounded by brothers and a consort is called all-pervading; the book does not let either side be forgotten.
