The seventh invocation: He is the soul of all beings, sarva-bhūtātmā.
This is the name of the Inner Ruler, known from the Bṛhadāraṇyaka and the Śvetāśvatara, where it is said: "one God, hidden in all beings, all-pervading, the inner soul of all beings". Two mantras from now this very line will sound in the book whole.
After the invocations of the highest Puruṣa and the highest Brahman, what is nearest is named: the soul of each. The order is the reverse of the ascent — from the summit to the heart.
The sense of this order is clear: the height the book speaks of does not remove Him. He who is above all persons is the soul in every being, including the one who utters the obeisance.
The last invocation will call Him beyond waking, dream and deep sleep — and thereby close the list.
