श्रीभगवानुवाच ।
कुतस्त्वा कश्मलमिदं विषमे समुपस्थितम् ।
अनार्यजुष्टमस्वर्ग्यमकीर्तिकरमर्जुन ॥

kutas tvā kaśmalam idaṁ viṣame samupasthitam |
anāryajuṣṭam asvargyam akīrtikaram arjuna ||

अनार्यजुष्टम्anārya-juṣṭamunworthy of an ārya (a noble man), befitting the ignoble.
अस्वर्ग्यम्asvargyamnot leading to heaven, not yielding heavenly rewards.
अकीर्तिकरम्akīrti-karamleading to dishonor, bringing disgrace.
अर्जुनarjunaO Arjuna!
Translation
The Blessed Lord said: “O Arjuna, from where has this impurity come upon you at this decisive hour? It is unworthy of a noble man (ārya), it does not lead to heaven, and it brings only disgrace.”
