श्रीभगवानुवाच ।
अशोच्यानन्वशोचस्त्वं प्रज्ञावादांश्च भाषसे ।
गतासूनगतासूंश्च नानुशोचन्ति पण्डिताः ॥

śrī-bhagavān uvāca |
aśocyān anvaśocas tvaṁ prajñāvādāṁś ca bhāṣase |
gatāsūn agatāsūṁś ca nānuśocanti paṇḍitāḥ ||

अगतासून्agata-asūnand for those whose life has not departed, that is, the living.

पण्डिताःpaṇḍitāḥthe wise, wise men.
Translation
The Blessed Lord said: “You speak words of wisdom, yet you grieve for that which is unworthy of grief. The wise grieve neither for the dead nor for the living.”
