न जायते म्रियते वा कदाचि-
न्नायं भूत्वा भविता वा न भूयः ।
अजो नित्यः शाश्वतोऽयं पुराणो
न हन्यते हन्यमाने शरीरे ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
na jāyate mriyate vā kadācin
nāyaṁ bhūtvā bhavitā vā na bhūyaḥ |
ajo nityaḥ śāśvato 'yaṁ purāṇo
na hanyate hanyamāne śarīre ||

न हन्यतेna hanyateis not slain, is not destroyed.
हन्यमानेhanyamānewhen [the body] is being slain.
शरीरेśarīrethe body.
Translation
“For the soul there is neither birth nor death. It never came into being, never comes into being, and never will. It is unborn, eternal, everlasting, and primeval. It does not perish when the body perishes.”
