ततो भीमः समुत्क्षिप्य बाहुभ्यां शल्यम् आहवे ॥
न्यवधीद् बलिनां श्रेष्ठो जहसुर् ब्राह्मणास् ततः ॥
तत्राश्चर्यं भीमसेनश् चकार पुरुषर्षभः ॥
यच् छल्यं पतितं भूमौ नाहनद् बलिनं बली ॥

tato bhīmaḥ samutkṣipya bāhubhyāṃ śalyam āhave ||
nyavadhīd balināṃ śreṣṭho jahasur brāhmaṇās tataḥ ||
tatrāścaryaṃ bhīmasenaś cakāra puruṣarṣabhaḥ ||
yac chalyaṃ patitaṃ bhūmau nāhanad balinaṃ balī ||

Translation

"Then Bhima, foremost of the strong, lifting Shalya with his arms in battle, threw him to the ground; and the brahmins laughed. And Bhima, bull among men, wrought a wonder there: that the strong one did not strike down mighty Shalya, fallen to the ground."
