Translation
“Firm in what remains, composed — leave even that whereby thou leavest: the carving-form of consciousness and mind, light, darkness and the rest.”

A strange and very exact order: yena tyajasi tat tyaja — “that whereby thou leavest — leave it”.
We leave by means of something. There is an instrument of renunciation — resolve, discernment, self-observation. And now the order is to leave that too.
This is the last step, and it cannot be bypassed. While the instrument is intact, so is the one who wields it.
Note the list of what is left: prakāśa and timira — “light and darkness”. Not darkness only, but light as well.
Recall 2.65: “neither light nor darkness”.
Śeṣa-sthiraḥ — “firm in the remainder”. The word śeṣa, “remainder”, is what is left when everything has been taken away (2.65, 4.52).
There is where one must stand.
