“The form of consciousness freed of the cognized, whose nature is the full light, where all the knowable has grown still — I am consciousness alone, the great.”

The teaching's last word, and it is spoken in the first person: saṃvin-mātram ahaṃ mahat — “I am consciousness alone, the great”.
Note that with this the book ends its thought. Not with a description and not with an order, but with a confession.
Of this assertion all has been said at 2.11 and 4.24: it is true as a denial of identification with body and mind, and untrue as an appropriation of supreme dominion.
The book's whole structure confirms the first reading. He who says “I am” here commanded in 6.72 to take refuge, and in 6.20 not to leave the Lord in the heart for another god.
To That which you are one does not resort, nor does one choose It.
Pūrṇa-jyotiḥ — “the fullness of light”. The book's last positive word on its subject.
