The last verse of Ṛbhu's teaching, and it is short.
Note the word īṣaṇā — “claim, solicitation”. In the Upaniṣads there is a standing expression: the three claims — for sons, for wealth, for worlds. He who departs is bidden give them up.
Here it is said praśānta-sakala-īṣaṇaḥ — “all claims extinguished”.
And the order: svasthaḥ bhava — “be in thyself”.
The word svastha means literally “standing in oneself”, and in common usage — “healthy, in good condition”. In our idiom it is closest to “be well”.
Six chapters, four hundred and sixty verses of inquiry — and at parting the teacher says to his pupil: be well.
A better ending for a teaching cannot be devised.
