एतन्निश्चयमादाय विलोकय धियेद्धया स्वयमेवात्मनात्मानमानन्दं पदमाप्स्यसि

“Taking up this conviction, look with a kindled reason — thyself, by thyself, upon thyself — and thou shalt gain the blissful state.”

The teacher's last order, and it repeats “self” three times: svayam eva ātmanā ātmānam.
Thyself, by thyself, upon thyself.
This is the whole book's last word on method. Not once in six chapters has it offered anything but this.
Note dhiyā iddhayā — “with a kindled reason”. The word iddhā, “ignited”, has twice stood with bhāvanā already (4.15, 5.112).
One must not look listlessly.
And the promise: ānandaṃ padam āpsyasi — “thou shalt gain the blissful state”.
For the first time in a long while the book promises bliss, not only calm and grieflessness.
Its last verses are altogether brighter than the rest.
