श्रीभगवानुवाच ।
काम्यानां कर्मणां न्यासं संन्यासं कवयो विदुः ।
सर्वकर्मफलत्यागं प्राहुस्त्यागं विचक्षणाः ॥

śrī-bhagavān uvāca |
kāmyānāṁ karmaṇāṁ nyāsaṁ sannyāsaṁ kavayo viduḥ |
sarva-karma-phala-tyāgaṁ prāhus tyāgaṁ vicakṣaṇāḥ ||

संन्यासम्sannyāsamsannyāsa.
कवयः विदुःkavayaḥ viduḥthe wise (kavayaḥ) call (viduḥ).
सर्वकर्मफलत्यागम्sarva-karma-phala-tyāgamthe relinquishing (tyāgam) of the fruits (phala) of all (sarva) activity.
प्राहुःprāhuḥthey call.
त्यागम्tyāgamtyāga.
विचक्षणाःvicakṣaṇāḥthe wise, the learned.
Translation
The Blessed Lord said: “The giving up of activity based on material desire the wise call sannyāsa. And the relinquishing of all the fruits of one’s activity the learned call tyāga.”
