ततस् ते समनुज्ञाता द्रुपदेन महात्मना ॥
पाण्डवाश् चैव कृष्णश् च विदुरश् च महामतिः ॥
आदाय द्रौपदीं कृष्णां कुन्तीं चैव यशस्विनीम् ॥
सविहारं सुखं जग्मुर् नगरं नागसाह्वयम् ॥

Translation
Vaishampayana said: "Then they, given leave by great Drupada — the Pandavas, and Krishna, and the wise Vidura — taking Draupadi-Krishna and the illustrious Kunti, set out unhurried and with pleasure for the city named after the elephant."

Here the exiles return with honor to their native city. It is telling that those who fled the fire only yesterday now travel "with pleasure," surrounded by their kin and by Krishna Himself: after a night of calamity, a day of peace begins to dawn. Here is seen the truth that fidelity to dharma turns sorrow into joy in its own time. Thus the text reveals a radiant homecoming; and the Pandavas, protected by the Lord, set out on the path of ascent.
