Devanāgarī
यतो यतो निश्चरति मनश्चञ्चलमस्थिरम् ।
ततस्ततो नियम्यैतदात्मन्येव वशं नयेत् ॥
Transliteration (IAST)
yato yato niścarati manaś cañcalam asthiram |
tatas tato niyamyaitad ātmany eva vaśaṁ nayet ||

चञ्चलम्cañcalamrestless, agitated.
अस्थिरम्asthiramand unsteady.

नियम्यniyamyabringing back, restraining.
एतत्etatit [the mind].
आत्मनि एवātmani evaunder the control (vaśa) of the soul (ātman).
वशम् नयेत्vaśam nayetone should bring.
Translation
“Wherever this restless and unsteady mind wanders, one should again and again bring it back and bring it under the control of the soul.”
