The fourth verse of the code. Hlādinī appears again, and beside her — prīti, “affection, love”.
Here is what deserves attention in these dark lines. The words in which the mantra is written are drawn from a quite definite circle: delight, affection, light, whiteness, immortality.
The maker of the code could have taken any words — he needed only the first letter. He took these.
So the mantra was memorised through them: the mantrin, telling his beads, held in memory not “b, v, g” but “the delighting one, affection, light”.
This is one more way in which the book does its single work. The name is parsed by roots; the form is charted in circles; the letters are named by powers. Everywhere the sound proves not to be empty.
The anusvāra, named here outright, is the dot above the letter marking the nasal after-sound. It closes the syllable, as the bindu closes the Oṁkāra.
Four verses of the code remain, and then the book will say how many letters came out in all.
