The sixth verse of the code, and in it flashes the word that gave the whole book its name: tāpinī.
The whole of it is called Rāma-tāpanī — from the root tap, “to burn, to blaze, to subject to heat”. In the titles of Upaniṣads this word means “the searing one”: she who burns and thereby purifies. So too are named the Nṛsiṃha-tāpanī and the Gopāla-tāpanī.
Here it stands as a letter-marker. But its appearance among the other words of the code is a kind of seal: the book's name is inscribed into its own mantra.
The remaining words are from the row of the elements: bhū — earth, anala — fire, anila — wind. Sanskrit loves such pairs: anala and anila differ by one letter and mean two of the five elements.
Ananta-ga — “going to the endless” — can be understood both as the name of a letter and as what every sound in the end proves to be: it departs into soundlessness, of which the fiftieth verse spoke, naming the nāda and the bindu.
