पूर्वं मनः समुदितं परमात्मतत्त्वा- त्तेनाततं जगदिदं सविकल्पजालम् शून्येन शून्यमपि विप्र यथाम्बरेण नीलत्वमुल्लसति चारुतराभिधानम्

“First the mind arose out of the essence of the Supreme Ātman, and by it this world with its net of distinctions is outspread — empty by the empty, O brāhmaṇa, as the blueness, most beautifully named, plays upon the sky.”

The image of the sky's blueness is among the best in the book.
The sky is not blue. The blueness is no pigment, no substance, no cover: it is what is seen when one looks through the transparent into great depth.
And it is beautiful. The word cārutara — “most beautiful”.
So too the world: śūnyena śūnyam — “empty by the empty”. The mind is empty, and the world stretched by it is empty; and yet it is seen, and seen as beautiful.
Note that the verse does not scold this blueness. It is named not a deception but a beauty.
And further: it is said whence the mind came — paramātma-tattvāt, “out of the essence of the Supreme Ātman”. Not of itself and not from somewhere aside.
This continues 4.86: the mind is the Lord's play. No one counterfeited the sky's blueness; it is the consequence of the sky's being deep.
