निरस्तकल्पनाजालमचित्तत्वं परं पदम् त एव भूमतां प्राप्ताः संशान्ताशेषकिल्बिषाः

The word bhūman — “plenitude, abundance, greatness” — is from the Chāndogya, where Sanatkumāra teaches Nārada: in plenitude is happiness; in the small there is no happiness.
Here it is said: plenitude is attained by those who have no contrivances.
This conjunction deserves marking. Plenitude comes from subtraction.
The word kilbiṣa — “taint, sin, defilement”. And it is said of them: saṃśānta — they have “stilled”.
Not “atoned for”, not “burnt away”: stilled.
This accords with the book's whole structure. The taints are no independent enemies; they are movements of the mind. The mind has settled — and they have settled too.
Acittatva — “mindlessness” — has been examined already (4.6, 4.51). A reminder: it is not feeble-mindedness, but the stopping of the work which is the mind.
