Here justice joins severity with mercy, and health joins the bodily with the mental. It is significant that the illness of the soul is healed by "service to elders": wise company heals the mind just as medicine heals the body. Thus the scripture shows a whole-hearted concern for justice and for the king's health; what follows concerns accessibility and the protection of those far away.
