धनुर्वेदस्य सूत्रं च यन्त्रसूत्रं च नागरम् ॥

Here the speech turns from virtue to skill: a king must know also the codes of martial and household arts. It is telling that righteousness does not oppose mastery, but joins with it: the good ruler is both learned and skilled. Scripture thus shows that dharma does not abolish science, but crowns it; what follows concerns weapons and the protection of the kingdom from calamity.
