एताः कुरूणाम् ऋषभः महात्मा श्रुत्वा गिरः ब्राह्मण-सत्तमस्यetāḥ kurūṇām ṛṣabhaḥ mahātmā śrutvā giraḥ brāhmaṇa-sattamasyahaving heard these words of the foremost of brahmanas, the bull of the Kurus, great of soul,
प्रणम्य पादौ अभिवाद्य हृष्टःpraṇamya pādau abhivādya hṛṣṭaḥbowing at his feet and greeting him, delighted,
राजा अब्रवीत् नारदम् देव-रूपम्rājā abravīt nāradam deva-rūpamthe king said to Narada, godlike in form:
एवम् करिष्यामि यथा त्वया उक्तम्evam kariṣyāmi yathā tvayā uktam"So I shall do, as you have spoken,

लेभे महीम् सागर-मेखलाम् चlebhe mahīm sāgara-mekhalām caand obtained the earth, girdled by the ocean.

Here the instruction bears fruit not in approval but in action. It is telling that Yudhishthira does not merely give thanks, but, "having spoken -- acted accordingly": wisdom becomes power only in deed. And the fruit of obedience to dharma was dominion over the whole earth. Scripture thus shows that righteous rule is crowned also with prosperity; and Narada now brings his account to its conclusion.
